Common Name
Kerosene Bush

Description
Kerosene Bush is a shrub that grows to between 0.5 and 1 m in height. The leaves are aromatic when crushed and inflammable, hence the common name. The leaves are like scales and up to about 5mm long and 1 mm wide. They are green above and furry white below. The plant flowers in summer and autumn. The white flower heads have yellow green bracts on the outside. The flower heads are produced in dense clusters at the top of the stems. Ozothamnus cupressoides is also known as Ozothamnus hookeri and Helichrysum hookeri.

subalpine heathland


Distribution
Kerosene Bush is found in the highlands of south eastern New South Wales and eastern Victoria
