Common Name
Black Mountain Leopard Orchid

Description
the Black Mountain Leopard Orchid is a yellow flowered terrestrial orchid. The species name nigromontana refers to its range on Black mountain in the ACT. The lateral petal are yellow with reddish brown markings towards the base of the petals. The labellum and dorsal sepal are yellow patterned with reddish brown blotches which presumably give it the common name of Leopard Orchid.. Like other member of the diuris genus, the lateral sepals hang downwards and are reddish and green. The leaves are narrow and grass like.

Diuris nigromontana is found on Black Mountain and adjacent hills in the Australian Capital Territory.
